Travel-Inspired Design
We’re entering the summer travel season, with Memorial Day coming up quickly. For fun, here are five interior design images and ideas inspired by wanderlust!
![Whitewashed peaked ceiling and floorboards of an attic with a hammock hung in the center. Netting hangs from the bottom of the hammock, while a pillow beckons. Partially stripped, aged painted wallboards adorn the far wall in eggshell blue, off-white with rust, and faded pink, with 2 windows at the center and a desk off to the left side. Above the hammock is hung a small chandelier for that shabby-chic look.](https://kimballstarr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Kimball-Starr-Interior-Design_Go-Design-Blog_Image-Courtesy-Heart-Home-via-Pinterest-Hammock-580x767.jpg)
There’s nothing quite like swinging lazily, napping in a hammock. Bring that peaceful feeling to your home, in an attic, basement, or guest bedroom for a delightful surprise.
![A sleek dark teak or redwood mid-century modern dresser is adorned with sculpture and a globe, while the walls above feature the ends of vintage suitcases hung as shelving and dressed with sculptures, clocks, and art.](https://kimballstarr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Kimball-Starr-Interior-Design_Go-Design-Blog_Image-Courtesy-Flea-Market-Style-Magazine_Travel-suitcase-wall-shelves-580x874.jpg)
An ingenious way to recall family vacations, by using the ends of vintage suitcases as open shelving. Inexpensive to create – find suitcases at yard sales and simply saw them off, then mount on the wall for instant conversation starters.

A delicate copper edging counterpoints the colors almost to the top edge, while simple silver taps and a spigot offer hot and cold water.](https://kimballstarr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Kimball-Starr-Interior-Design_Go-Design-Blog_Image-Courtesy-Lonny.com-Tiled-Sink-580x870.jpg)
Does this tiled sink make you long for Morocco? Washing your hands becomes trés cool.
