Bathroom Tiling
Bathroom tiling is trending on Pinterest!
Here are ideas for your bathroom renovation from projects I’ve completed with happy clients around the San Francisco Bay Area and Lake Tahoe.
![Long blue porcelain floor planks run towards a bathroom counter with two sinks. Three gold wall sconces on a wall painted royal blue with a pair of arched mirrors hang above the gold single faucets at double sinks under white countertops. Dark blue cabinetry with gold handles match the gold shower and tub fixtures over white herringbone tiling and a white tub.](https://kimballstarr.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Kimball-Starr-Interior-Design_Blog-Bathroom-Tile-Trends_Blue-Porcelain-Floor-1.jpg)
Porcelain planks made to look like wood are excellent for high-traffic areas because they’re easy to clean and won’t fade. Choose any color, pattern, or texture you want, like these royal blue porcelain floor tiles, above.

The right wall is finished in blue-grey vertical glossy tiles.](https://kimballstarr.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Kimball-Starr-Interior-Design_Blog-Bathroom-Tile-Trends-Shower-Subway-Vertical-Combo-Porcelain.jpg)
Vertical tiles feel modern, compared to the more traditional subway tiles, which are horizontal. Here again, the wood-look horizontal tiles are porcelain so you don’t have to worry about splashes.

The flooring is a mix of mismatched Moroccan patterned tiles in cornflower blue, tan, mustard, and dark grey.](https://kimballstarr.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Kimball-Starr-Interior-Design_Blog-Bathroom-Tile-Trends_Moroccan-Flooring-2-576x1024.jpg)
Mismatched multi-patterned Moroccan floor tiles make a cool feature in this San Francisco kids’ bathroom.
![A step-in shower without a tub features large dark blue tiles creating a 6-pointed star surrounded by tan, beige, and off-white tiles in the same shape. The floor is small square off-white tiles. A gold handle on the clear glass door matches the gold sink faucet. The mirror and medicine cabinet are surrounded by the same dark blue tiles as the shower.](https://kimballstarr.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Kimball-Starr-Interior-Design_Blog-Tile-Trends-Shower-Stars.jpg)
Create large-scale patterns with tiles, like this blue star and beige field combination in a Bay Area home. I’ve repeated the blue tiles around the mirror and medicine cabinet for a finished look.

The door handle and shower fixtures are black.](https://kimballstarr.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Kimball-Starr-Interior-Design_Blog-Bathroom-Tile-Trends-Curbless-Shower-3.jpg)
Curbless showers are trendy, and we made this one even more hip by mixing complementary colors and patterns on the walls and floor.

Mixing finishes is a big trend right now! Here we used gloss and matte tiles together to create a sophisticated look. I can do this for you, too.
