California Homes Showcases Kimball Starr’s Winning 2014 Design
We are pleased to announce that Kimball Starr Interior Design’s First Place Design Excellence Award winning project was published in the Winter 2014-2015 edition of California Homes Magazine!

The awards, produced by the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) California North Chapter, reflect the highest standards of design excellence for interiors in 21 categories spanning commercial, residential and product design. Kimball Starr defeated industry peers in each category to win First Place for “Residential: Best Individual Room – Contemporary” and Second Place for “Residential: Modest Budget, Big Impact”.

Kimball Starr Interior Design’s First Place winning entry is a Contemporary Guatemalan Living Room, created for a retired couple who spend half their time in a contemporary 2-bedroom condo with views of downtown San Francisco, and the rest of the time in Antigua, Guatemala. Travel is very important to the couple, who wanted to bring back the rich woven textiles and vibrant colors of their South American journeys to their stateside home.
The judges of the 2014 Design Excellence Awards agree that Kimball Starr met the client’s requirements and aesthetic preferences brilliantly. One judge’s comment on the Contemporary Guatemalan Living Room was “Fabulous result and spot-on regarding meeting [the] client’s purposes and goals. Creative, appropriate and artfully done!”
